"Mala" Glass Syringe Necklace
This necklace is one of the most dramatic, impractical, noisy pieces of jewelry I've ever made, and I love it. If you're looking for subtlety, you won't find it here. It features 70 glass syringes filled with varying amounts of green and blue glass beads, each hanging from black rubber tubing. The neckline is embellished with black beads and the back is lined with rubber rings.
This necklace measures approximately 16" around, and 9" by 20" laid flat. It features a silver hook and loop clasp. Please note that this necklace is quite noisy, as it's 70 pieces of glass clinking against one another. If you have auditory sensitivity, this might not be the best choice.
When I made this piece, I strongly considered filling it with pink, blue, and white beads to symbolize the colors of the trans flag, with a nod to injections of HRT. I chose not to do so because I did not want anyone to think I was trying to profit off of or objectify the trans community. However, if you would prefer that the existing beads be switched out for pink, blue, and white beads, please let me know and I will do so at no extra charge.
